The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. The day of bone marrow transplant is a very emotional and happy moment for you to step into your next phase of life. Some people even feel that it’s a very spiritually uplifting process. Be sure to share this time with loved ones to send you prayers and good wishes.
After about 24 or 48 hours of completion of Conditioning regimen, the stem cells are ready to be infused. The stems cells are infused using the central line which will be implanted before the start of conditioning. The process is fairly simple and usually lasts for less than two hours.
However, most patients will have their hearts monitored and nurses and resident doctors will be present at least for the first hour to see if there are any reactions during the infusion. Usually the first 24 hours are monitored closely post infusion.
